Lanboss History
Lanboss has a long and successful history. Starting in 1998 with Lanboss Login until the present with a broad portfolio of effective products, and an exciting roadmap for the future
Customer Driven Software Development
Although Lanboss Software Limited was founded in 1998, our roots stem from the early 1990s as network builders and implementers, delivering IT solutions and performing system migrations for over 250,000 networked users. As Microsoft introduced the 32-bit Windows dialects, network management became increasingly difficult for our engineering team.
During a typical migration, Network Managers would have to organise many staff to go out into the estate to manually reconfigure each PC to pick up the new services in favour of the old. This would be aided by issuing a script and variety of Software tools to try to speed up the process, but it still meant that every workstation would need to be visited. Lanboss' findings have been that any form of manual work like this will lead to around 10% error (at best) and generally this would cause mayhem on the next working day. Apart from the inaccuracy, it would typically take around 15-20 minutes per workstation to adjust the registry and often INI files would be left out of the equation.
Furthermore, it is often the case that the number of workstations would be left out, for example laptops, which had been inaccessible at the time. As UNC references could be scattered throughout an entire machines content, often the migration script could miss rather vital ones. On the next working day, whole parts of users' environments could be disabled. The impact always varies between different networks and how well the workstations have been managed up to the point of the migration. Lanboss had to find innovative ways to speed up delivery and ensure no users errors were encountered when migrating servers.

Broad Portfolio
The Lanboss Migration Toolkit was released in 2001 to answer the 'super server migration' issue and as a general utility suite to impact on the workstations when changing the names of any network service . Using simple techniques, the toolkit identifies all server references and is capable of remotely adjusting them so that network migrations become a manageable and simple task. In 2002, we shipped Lanboss Network Intelligence Suite™, which included the Auditing and Migration Toolkits.
In early 2003, we released the first of our second generation of development which had a completely new core architecture for the products, based on IP. This gave us the opportunity to extend the product capabilities to include software delivery, file transfer, greatly enhanced auditing and also to commence development of a succession of other products. The Workstation Manager, Workstation Auditor, Server Manager and Synchro all utilise the same core technology to simplify deployment and management.
More recently, the auditing capabilities were augmented with EXE scanning and a compliance management console to cater for an end-to-end software license compliance management solution that stands head and shoulders above all other products in the same category. With our present portfolio, you can now significantly reduce your effort and costs with:
