Lanboss Login

LANboss Login is a fast, customisable login from anywhere on the NDS network. It enables hot-desking, as users can access their account regardless of workstation configuration or NDS tree location. The last logged-in username is removed for added security. Enhance the HR and legal aspects of your network through controlled access, and post announcements, messages and corporate usage policies on the Login Dialog in a fully configurable messaging area. A single button press allows restricted access to a defined guest account, ideal for foyer, kiosk or casual use machines.

• Logo Display You can optionally display your logo of choice on the main CXLogin dialog.
• Notice Display You can optionally display an RTF file in the CXLogin dialog to pass on important information to your users.

• Contextless Logins Users only need to type in their short username, and CXLogin will search the tree for them.
• Wildcard Searching Search the tree to display a choice of users for the users to pick, with automatic selection if only one user is found (e.g. with a single Admin user, typing Adm* would automatically pick the Admin.Org user.
• Leave Message Facility Finally implemented, now comes with a MsgReader program that can be run after login to display any messages that have been left.

• Manual Browsing You can optionally allow browsing of the trees for users. By pressing the browse button the user can browse the tree to pick the user they wish to login as.

• Multiple Tree Support If you have mobile users, or multiple trees on your network, CXLogin firstly follows the Novell login dialogs choice, so searches the correct tree, but secondly prompts the user to change trees if the one they were last logged into cannot be found.
• Automatic Guest Login You can define a guest account with limited access (e.g. for reception machines) and allow the users to login by pressing one button on the CXLogin.
• Ability to disable NDS searching Allows you to use other contextless login products, but still maintain all the other benefits of LANboss Login like the customisable login dialog.
• Added security The last logged in username can now be removed, especially beneficial to organisations who employ a hot desking policy.
• Promote corporate user policies It's not possible to disable the cancel button on the waiting to connect to server dialog, so ensuring that users always get a connection to the server and so download the logo text.
• Auto Timeout on cancel button For portable users or for when the server isn't available, you can now configure Login to automatically cancel the waiting for connection to server dialog.
• Now sets NT username field automatically Login will now set your NT username to the truncated version of your NDS username, for seamless login on NT workstations.
• Control access, post announcements or other messages right on the Login Dialog itself in a fully configurable message area. Enhance the HR and legal aspects of your network by posting usage warning notices to your users. With LANboss Login you can help in promoting / enforcing the correct use of your computing facilities. Attempting to enforce legal use of your system is only possible by posting the correct warning at the point at which users type in their login name and password. By using the LANboss Login message box, you can issue your organisation's intentions with regard to correct computer usage with the following message:

  • Only allowed if using a valid user account and password

• Paste Short Username Option, allows LANboss Login to paste the short version of the found username.
• Fixed ZENworks issue Fixed problem with dynamic local users not being created.
• Cache NDS objects RTF and INI files stored in NDS Object are now cached to the local disk each time it is invoked.

Note: With the registered version, you can switch off the LANboss banner graphic and change the Splash Screen to any graphic of your choice. Also, remember that the text and graphics boxes above the Novell Client are editable by you with provided text and graphic.
