Mail Migrator

A full desktop and server migration can involve many of the products above working together, for example:

Performing a SAN server consolidationwith existing Novell and Microsoft server content being migrated would typically utilise the following products to improve the accuracy of the migration, reduce risk and avoid the need to walk past each and every workstation:

Product Purpose
Server Manager

Obtain server wide storage usage analysis across the existing Novell and Microsoft servers, i.e. perform a 'Storage Landscape'

Workstation Auditor

Audit existing workstations across the entire estate to find:

  1. UNC references pointing to the existing server locations
  2. Printing environment configuration
  3. Novell client versions
  4. Domain membership
Synchro Data

Incrementally migrate existing server contents to SAN. This can happen during business hours, across operating systems and retaining file ownership so that quotas can be estblished immediately on the SAN

Workstation Manager

Upon completion of the migration of a section (or all of) the data from old servers to the SAN, perform the following workstation adjustments across all or a selection of the workstation estate:

  1. Repoint UNC references from the old servers to the new locations for the data. This can take as little as 100ms and is totally user transparent
  2. Reroute printers to the new queue locations
  3. Roll out service packs, Active Directory clients etc.
  4. Join the correct new domain
  5. Remove the Novell Client (all versions since 1997)
  6. Remove unused applications that are no longer needed
